2nd anniversary of Berlin Asian Film Network
Theōria – where does the gaze go?

theōria – (θεωρία) is Greek for contemplation. It corresponds to the Latin word contemplatio, “looking at”, “gazing at”, “being aware of” (…)

On the occasion of the Berlin Asian Film Network’s 2nd anniversary, we have joined forces with Nowhere Kitchen and invite you to explore with us new ways of experiencing everything and nothing considered ‘Asian’.

Where does our gaze go? What do we look at when we label the opposite or ourselves as Asian? The harder we try to define the essence of “Asianness”, the more we coerce ourselves and others to fit into categories we haven’t invented on our own.
Let’s seek some truth in the heterogeneity within our whole. A montage of performances, film, visual art and food shall let us discover what else we can be when we collectively shut off our habitual gaze for a while.

Make it happen.
